We take our Environmental obligations seriously and hence we operate our apiaries in a sustainable way that has the most limited impact on the environment. Our apiaries are mostly concentrated in the Parishes of Hanover, St. James and Trelawny. We place our bees in the in the high and misty hills to the valleys where the rivers flows and the wilderness in between.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are you curious to know what is honey? We have compiled a few answers to some popular questions. If you are still not satisfied, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We’ll be more than happy to answer your questions.

Why does my honey granulate, crystalize, or become hard?

Honey granulates and becomes hard because of the natural qualities. The natural sugars in honey are sucrose and fructose, over time they will bond together to form little crystals which will harden and multiply over time, this occurrence usually starts at the bottom of the container that the honey is stored in. With different nectar sources some honey will crystalize/granulate or harden faster than others. In the granulated form the honey is still perfectly good, just place the honey container in hot water to return to liquid and enjoy.

What is honey made from?
Honey, the thick golden liquid that we all love is made from the nectar of some flowering plants at different times of the year. The nectar is collected by the bees and taken back to the hive where it is stored in the wax cells that are made by the bees, the bees then collectively fan their wings at high speeds to extract the moisture from the nectar which thickens the liquid which now becomes honey. When the moisture content reaches below 21% the bees then place a wax capping over the cells to protect the honey
Is honey better than table sugar?
Honey has a lower Glycemic Index than table sugar which means that it does not raise blood sugar that fast. Furthermore, raw honey is packed with vitamins, antioxidants, healing properties and a host of beneficial nutrients that table sugar does not have.
Can I use honey in my meals instead of table sugar?
The simple answer is yes. Honey can be substituted for sugar in most cases. As honey is concentrated less honey can be used to replace a higher amount of sugar.
